Photography Challenge | Prisms & Flowers

I recently had a photography assignment, and after feeling uninspired for a while, these photos are my favourite to date. Our assignment was to ‘shadow’ a photographer, and create 4 photos like theirs. I completely failed at that part I’ll admit, and Im not even going to bother telling you who my photographer was, but these photos turned out a lot better than I had in my mind.

My friend hates having her photo taken, however she let me take a few of her for the assignment (she also said it was fine to post them on here!). She is not good with staged photos, if you tell her to pose and hates it. It was not until I was able to take photos of her without her realizing that they really started to get better (and I believe those are always the best photos!).

The photographer I chose uses a lot of light (fairy lights, prisms etc.), and flowers. Luckily I already have a prism I could use, which is what I used in the above photo. Plus there are also flowers in the background ; ) It was when she looked away that I snapped this photo, and the candid shot looks so much better than any staged photo. Plus doesn’t she just look gorgeous?!

This next photo is actually one I wanted to recreate from my personal Instagram account (follow my public one here!). I absolutely love flowers and nature, so this one was a no brainer!! I also think this one looks absolutely amazing for a more staged photo!!

For this photo I was actually inspired by one I saw on my dance teachers Instagram account a while ago (thanks for the idea! ; ). I wanted her to face away from me though, as I thought it would look better that way, and she would look more natural and feel more comfortable (being someone who hates posing!). This is by far my favourite photo so far!! I love the pop of purple, clear bright blue sky, and summer greens. I actually did not edit this photo at all as I just loved how it turned out. (I also love that she is holding a bunch of wildflowers!).

These two photos are of her holding the prism I used in the first photo. The sun is behind her, so it created a rainbow on the camera. But as you can see, when she changes the angle in which she holds the prism the colours change. I really want to go back and take one more where the prism is blue or even green as it is just so fascinating! I honestly just love these photos though, and thought they looked amazing!

Lastly I just wanted to share a few photos she took of me for her assignment. She was doing an assignment on taking photos of people doing things they love. Obviously I was dancing, but I really love how they turned out and just had to share them!
