Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette Review

I recently wrote a post about all the new bits I have just picked up from Sephora (read that here!), and I mentioned the Too Faced Chocolate Gold palette. Well Im back today to give you the run down on it!

I have tried a lot of eyeshadows in my short time here on Earth. But the only eyeshadows I bought and like are the Urban Decay Naked palettes. I own number 2, 3, and the heat palette and love them all! However I have wanted to try some new, good shadows for a while. I am very picky with eyeshadows though. I like the shimmers, because I find that mattes never blend nicely (at least not when I do it!). What I am saying is, I know what I like.

I have however been eyeing up the Too Faced palettes for AGES. They smell amazing, their packaging is absolutely stunning, and the colours all look gorgeous. However nothing pushed me to buy a palette till the Chocolate Gold palette was released. The colours looked AMAZING, and for once, they were all colours I would wear.

Packaging

First up is the packaging. I have one thing to say. It. Is. Stunning. The packaging is absolutely gorgeous, and by far the most appealing than anything else I have seen! The inside is just as beautiful, its shiny bright gold, with little black lettering above each shadow giving the name. The names of the shadows are just as beautiful; Cocoa Truffle, So Boujee, Love & Cocoa to name a few. Inside is also a full size mirror covering the entire lid, which personally I do not use, but I know will be extremely useful for a lot of you! The palette is a really good size, and you get a lot for your money. Overall I would have to give the packaging a 10/10.

The Colour Range

Lets be honest, a palette full of colours. You are never going to like every single one. However, there is only one single shadow I would not use in this palette, and it is Decadent a pitch black shadow. I have nothing against it, though to be honest there is literally a black eyeshadow in every palette, so it would have been nice to let one slide. But I can hardly complain, there are 16 shades, and I LOVE 15 of them. That is one hell of an accomplishment Too Faced!! Especially like I said, I am very picky.

(colours left to right; Drippin’ Diamonds, New Money, Livin’ Lavish + a line of eyeliner ; )

But what are the shadows actually like?

So this is what it all comes down to. I could LOVE the packaging, LOVE the colours, and everything about the brand, but if the eyeshadows are no good, its a firm NO from me. Bearing in mind this is often what ruins shadows for me, I was very worried that this may be another let down. HOWEVER. These shadows are the softest, butteriest, most pigmented, shimmery shadows EVER. As I said I LOVE my glitter shadows so the fact that 12 out of 15 shadows are shimmery is a huge win in my books. I do however understand that shimmers are not everyones cup of tea, in which case this palette is definitely not for you.

The one thing I will mention, when I used an eyeshadow brush there was not much colour payoff with the shimmers. I was a little disappointed, but I was not going to give up. Sometimes a finger is simply best. In this case you just have to touch the shadow and your lid and it pops. And I mean POPS. They are literally THE most pigmented, and are actually just so gorgeous!!

The Lowdown

So what is it like as a whole? Well if you have read this far (or just skipped to this section, I see you!) you can probably tell that I absolutely LOVE IT. The shadows are gorgeous, the packaging is amazing, the price is definitely worth it, and the colours are all ‘useable’ (in other words, no electric blue or bright yellow and lime green, though that may be your jam!). All in all I am absolutely obsessed, and have nothing negative to say (and I am not just saying that!). Plus they actually smell like chocolate, goals amiright?! Compared to the UD Naked palettes, I would say that these are just as good, if not better!! I will 100% be buying from Too Faced again. As a brand they are simply amazing, cruelty free and values I too believe in.

I’ve heard such great things about Too Faced pallets, especially this one! But I’m not sure if I’ll ever use the shades because I’m not very brave, haha. Loved the review x

Ooh that sounds good!! Yeah brushes really don’t do the shadows justice, using your finger is actually amazing though, haha!! xx

This looks so AMAZING! I love Too Faced eyeshadows, and have been very tempted to pick this one up. I love jewel tones colours for the eyes, and Livin Lavish and Money Bags look so beautiful. Great review and pictures as always, Zoe! 🙂 xx
