Derma Roller System Review | AD

*This post is sponsored by Derma Roller System. I have not been paid to say anything specific, all opinions are my own. This is a derma roller system review.

I don’t know about you, but I have seen such a hype over these derma rollers recently… they are everywhere and claim to get rid of/reduce wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, cellulite and more. I am fortunate enough to have been sponsored by Derma Roller System, to create a blog post review on the 0.5mm needle Derma Roller. This size needle is for the face, and claims to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation (my issue, from acne scars).

First Impression

Not only did I receive the 0.5mm Derma roller, but I also received their Perfect Derm collagen mask, and DermaC+ anti ageing serum. My first impression of the Derma Roller was that it was very cheaply made, a bit like a cheap pack of razors only with a needle head instead of a razor head. This retails for roughly £75 (though it is currently on sale for £38), which I personally find a bit expensive for the quality. Either way a needle is a needle, and that is what the product is focussing on.

The DermaC+ serum however looks like an extremely high quality product, similar to the packaging of The Ordinary, it comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. The directions are all clearly labeled on the bottle and packaging. Retailing for £45, I would definitely say the product is worth the price (especially compared to the roller itself). The roller and serum can however be bought as a bundle for £61 which I think is a really lovely touch, and you can check that out here.

How it Works

If you purchase the product alone it comes with a user guide, travel case, and collagen mask. The process of using the roller is actually very easy. You simply run the roller over the area you want to treat 4 times vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. Afterwards you simply rub a drop of the serum over your face, and then use sunscreen if you do this in the daytime compared to at night.

The way the derma roller works is by painlessly rolling the stainless steel needles over your skin, creating micro-channels which stimulates and triggers the skins natural healing process. This then increases the elastin and collagen production, which are the two proteins that make up the natural components of the skin. This is why using the collagen mask afterwards is really beneficial!

The roller is to be used a maximum of 5 days a week, so I’ve been using it every other day, as I find this easier to keep count of.

Worth it?

Ive been using this for about 3 weeks, however I did go away for a week in between and was unable to use it. Ive noticed a little bit of reduction in redness, but so far my scars are still very prominent. Im hoping once Ive been using this for a good few months there will be a more noticeable difference! If you have the money, I definitely recommend giving it a try, if not I’d recommend their face masks alone!

Have you tried the Derma Roller, and what did you think?
